🌻 Spring has Sprung 🌻

Spring has sprung at Nature Broking HQ

As the season turned, so did our calendars – and what a spring it’s been! We’ve (almost) swapped desks for wellies, spent time out on some truly inspiring farms, and even launched a new initiative to get more people out into nature.

Bank Farm Visit

Nature Broking’s Spring kicked off with a trip down to Bank Farm in East Sussex. Armed with sun hats and water bottles our corporate clients made the quick trip from London for a day of nature-based carbon removal education.

The day began in Bank Farm’s 13th century barn, where we had an interactive workshop, designed to illustrate the carbon credit generation cycle, carbon auditing process, and finally the use for a credit (big thanks to our partners: UKCCC, Beyond Zero and Carbonology for their insight).

We wrapped up with a few questions from the floor before we headed out to the courtyard where we enjoyed a delicious locally sourced lunch – thank you Doug Wanstall! Lunch finished, we began our tour of the farm stopping for a full explanation of each intervention which has helped turn Bank Farm from intensive to regenerative. We explored the role of carbon finance in this and how it is an instrumental tool in unlocking the transition.

Doug talked us through the powerful impact of mob grazing, cover cropping, and a whole-farm approach to soil health – explaining the science behind how increased soil health leads to higher levels of carbon sequestration, ultimately generating the carbon credit. The passion for rebuilding biodiversity was evident at every turn, from bird calls echoing across the fields to the rich, living soils beneath our boots.

 Wexcombe Farm visit

Barely two weeks later, we were grabbing our walking boots and jumping on the train to Pewsey to George Hosier’s farm near Marlborough. After a short drive through the stunning Wiltshire downs, we arrived at Wexcombe Farm.

Tom Dillon from Regenerate Outcomes (RO) introduced the agenda for the day and gave background to RO’s mission before we were split off into groups for the debut of Nature Broking’s Carbon Card game…

After some light-hearted debating, it was time to get out into the beautiful fields, and we jumped aboard George’s tractor for a tour of the farm.  A soil-core demonstration from the team at Agri carbon, some in-the-field explanations from soil carbon expert Kyle Richardville, and insights on regen farming from George helped us to understand the carbon credit generation cycle. From baselining the farm, to analysing soils samples, and ultimately adjusting farming practices to improve soil health, and increase carbon sequestration.

We wrapped up with a Q & A with Kyle and George. Hearing from the team about their journey - challenges, triumphs, and learnings - sparked honest conversations about what transformation really looks like on the ground, and inspired executives in the need for change.

These visits are more than just informative - they're energising. They reconnect us with the people and places driving the nature-based movement forward.

 Introducing Nature Broking Connect

One of our favourite moments this spring? Launching Nature Broking Connect -  a new series of relaxed weekend walks through nature. Think of it as networking, minus the name tags and office walls…

Nature Broking Connect is all about connection without an agenda. It's a space to walk, talk, reflect, and re-energise with others who care about the land. Whether you’re knee-deep in ecosystem services or just curious about natural capital, these walks are for you.

Our first outings saw us meander through ancient woodlands, open pastures, and blooming hedgerows – all just a stone’s throw from the city! With lively chats on everything from soil microbes to seasonal foraging. There’s something powerful about stepping outside together - no presentations, no pressure, just shared footsteps and fresh air, oh and a pint and a porkpie at the end!
