Nature Broking’s Nature Connect 1st outing in Scotland

Lions roared (ish). It poured. We connected.

Nature Broking's first Nature Connect walk in Scotland was, well, wet! After watching the Lions 1st Test in the relative comfort of The Ship Inn, Elie, we set off to attack the Elie Chain Walk - a very tricky rock climb round the cliffs (disclaimers were in place!). This was quite challenging as the rocks were very slippery in the driving rain but it was FUN, an excellent team-building exercise as we all needed to help each other AND everybody completed it except one of our number, Rob Few, who took one look and sensibly returned to the comfort of the pub.

After the rigours of the cliffs, some people decided to head for base and help with the preparation of the Cullen Skink, while a few of us completed the walk along the coastal path from Elie to St Monans.

Great hospitality from our Head of Science, Russell Galt and an excellent day out for all connecting with each other and nature - which is the whole idea of these events. Thank you to all who attended including Bessie, the Patterdale terrier, who was a bit of a liability on the cliffs!

We received excellent feedback also. Our Nature Broking Nature Connect programme aims to get us all out into nature, not only to connect with the natural world around us but also with each other. One attendee said: “Thank you for inviting me to join you on the Chain Walk and in the Cullen Skink extravaganza afterwards. I hadn’t known about the Chain Walk despite living in Edinburgh and, even in the rather dreich weather, really enjoyed the challenge as well as admiring the incredible rock formations over which we scrambled. It was great to spend time in this diverse group and I felt a distinct improvement in my wellbeing and mood over the course of the day.”

Next one will be in the South. More information very soon on our Nature Connect page.
