The power of site engagement - Nature Broking runs visit to Nattergal’s High Fen Wildland
The impact of site engagement - good information, good food and good mud! All were on offer at our collaborative event with Nattergal Ltd at their High Fen Wildland site in late November.
Inspiring talks by Nattergal Ltd's Natural Capital Manager Matthew Hay, Doug Wanstall of UK Carbon Code of Conduct and Nature Broking's own Luke Baldwin were followed by a locally sourced lunch and a great (muddy) walk around the wildland with Frank Street.
All participants were impressed by the work being done on this ex-arable and daffodil farm to re-wet the lowland peat and turn the whole area into a 'unique and wonderful habitat mosaic and wetland system in the Fens'. This is made possible through natural capital investment and the generation of peatland carbon credits.
The day out was rounded off in style with mulled wine and a lively session of the Nature Broking’s interactive, hands-on Carbon Card Game which builds knowledge about the carbon and nature markets to help strengthen trust and, as a result, the use of carbon and nature credits for climate change mitigation and nature restoration.
Beautiful cold, crisp, sunny weather made for high spirits and a real buzz of excitement over this fantastic project. Thank you to Nattergal Ltd for hosting and to all attendees who made the trip.
