This project is a prime example of how to restore nature, sequester carbon and help the local community all in one go. This project is developed by an experienced Indian partner, working in concert with local NGOs and community groups.

This is an agroforestry project in Eastern India over 4000 ha of severely degraded land that is projected to sequester 3.1m tonnes of carbon over the 30 year period. The trees are planted for the benefit of the local community, providing food crops like cashew and jackfruit alongside other species trees which support traditional silk production. This traditional tassar silk production is a significant employer of women in the community and provides additional income beyond their share of the carbon revenues.
