Landmark Clyde & Co casestudy featured in a University of Cambridge report.

Our work with Clyde & Co just landed in a Cambridge Institute for Sustainability Leadership (CISL), University of Cambridge report - here's why it matters:

We developed a pioneering approach with Clyde & Co to reframe their sustainability spending as a strategic balance sheet asset, rather than a short-term expense. We secured forward purchases of nature-based carbon removal credits, positioning the business ahead of 2038 supply constraints and regulatory expectations.

Why is this unique?

  • The partnership demonstrates the potential for connected financial innovations across nature markets, procurement and insurance to overcome barriers to adoption of nature positive practices and business models.

  • Forward procurement: Credits were secured in advance to hedge against rising prices and supply constraints, projected to triple or more by 2038.

  • Balance sheet capitalisation: Credits are treated as assets under IAS provisions, avoiding P&L penalties and enhancing longer term financial performance.

  • Risk-mitigated portfolio: Insurance and rigorous due diligence ensured high-integrity projects.

'This represents a significant breakthrough in nature positive innovation – it mitigates the disincentives of investment in nature positive solutions and business models created by the mismatch between short-term financial incentives and long-term environmental benefits.'
