QBE Buyers Club featured in The Times
We’re proud to see that the QBE Buyers Club was recently featured in The Times, as the story continues to generate conversation. Nature Broking developed, structured and brokered this model to offer a new proposition. One insurance value chain. One shared site in Lincolnshire. A 50-year commitment.
The story has been picked up by multiple publications, across 7 sectors, with a combined readership of 37m+.
The article shines a spotlight on the role of partnerships for climate action. Whilst sustainability is often framed as an individual commitment, the Buyers Club model asks what becomes possible when businesses with existing commercial relationships co-invest in nature restoration across the same verified land.
The consortium also enables members to engage employees in sustainability initiatives, with the opportunity to visit Boothby Wildland twice a year to see the recovery in action and participate in on-site volunteering projects.
The results at the Boothby Wildland site are measurable. Biodiversity has more than doubled since 2023, and species richness has risen by nearly a third, with a myriad of birds, bats, bees, butterflies and plants now recorded on site.
Whilst it is believed to be the UK’s first consortium of its kind, the framework is designed to be applied across other sectors and value chains. This will open the door to further opportunities for nature restoration and climate change mitigation at scale.
Paddy Linighan, Chief Sustainability Officer, Clyde & Co: “Sustainability in professional services is often framed as an individual commitment, what each firm does within its own walls. The QBE Buyers Club is a different proposition. It asks what becomes possible when businesses invest together, across the relationships that already connect them.”
